Victorian Minister for Tourism & Major Events
The Honourable John Eren MP is the Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Minister for Sport and Minister for Veterans, a position he has held since December 2014. Minister Eren is responsible for safeguarding Victoria’s position as a world leader for business events, major events and tourism, and its title as Australia’s sporting capital.
His portfolio covers a range of entities including the newly created events and tourism marketing company, Visit Victoria, as well as iconic infrastructure such as the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Federation Square, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Melbourne and Olympic Parks sports precinct.
His responsibilities also include ensuring opportunities for Victorians to participate in sport and recreation, protecting the welfare of Victoria’s veterans and their families, and ensuring the State appropriately commemorates its wartime history.
He has been a member of the Victorian Parliament since 2002 and was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2006 as the State Member for Lara. He was the Shadow Minister for Tourism and Major Events from December 2013 to December 2014
